How to Unlock All Regions in Lightyear Frontier

Reading time: 1162
This guide is dedicated to the in-game world of Lightyear Frontier, which is divided into several distinct regions; you'll learn how to unlock, restore, and explore them
After completing the tutorial missions and establishing your main base, you'll surely contemplate exploring the world of Lightyear Frontier, wanting to start restoring numerous regions. Let's delve into the world-building system, the location of the regions, and the rules for unlocking and restoring them!

The Lightyear Frontier map is divided into 8 separate regions, each with different resources and plants, potentially allowing you to obtain seeds for cultivation on your farm. Initially, only one region will be available - the Meadows, but you'll be able to unlock others by getting rid of toxic slimes and weeds.

How to Reach the Northwestern Region

The guide was written on an early build of the game, so at the time of publication, it was not possible to reach the northwestern area in this version of Lightyear Frontier.

How to Open the Shelter Door

You can open the Shelter door by unlocking each of the main regions on the main island. There is no need to visit Tornado-Rock Island.

How to Unlock the Other Regions

To unlock new regions in Lightyear Frontier, you must get rid of toxic slimes and weeds. To remove toxic slime, use a watering hose, and to get rid of pesky weeds, you'll have to use a vacuum cleaner. Some regions can be cleared with standard equipment on the mech, meaning no upgrades are required. However, other regions contain more powerful and resilient slime and weeds, so you'll need to upgrade the vacuum cleaner and/or watering hose on the mech.

What's Needed to Unlock Each Region

Here are the upgrades needed to unlock each region:

  • Meadows: No upgrades required.
  • Pine Peaks: Standard watering hose, standard vacuum cleaner.
  • Distant Cliffs: Standard watering hose, standard vacuum cleaner.
  • Stepped Peak: Reinforced watering hose I, standard vacuum cleaner.
  • Yellow Forest: Standard watering hose, reinforced vacuum cleaner I.
  • Hillside Beach: Reinforced watering hose II, standard vacuum cleaner.
  • Low Plains: Standard watering hose, reinforced vacuum cleaner II.
  • Tornado-Rock Island: Nothing needs to be cleared.

As far as I can tell, the spawn locations of toxic weeds and slimes are always the same and only slightly differ for different players. Keep in mind that you'll be able to restore Distant Cliffs and Pine Peaks using standard vacuum cleaners and watering hoses without any upgrades. Clearing other regions will require specific upgrades to both tools.
