Valve Drops Hints on Exciting Upcoming Dota 2 Features: Battle Pass and Frostivus Event

Great news for Dota 2 enthusiasts! Valve is finally bringing the long-awaited battle pass to Dota 2, and they've given us a sneak peek at when it might hit the scene.

With the arrival of Patch 7.34e, Valve knew fans might feel a bit let down by the modest update. But fear not! The developers are making amends by dropping clues about some exciting future updates in Dota 2. This includes the much-anticipated return of the seasonal event, Frostivus, and the reintroduction of new arcanas through a battle pass. This marks the end of the dry spell for cosmetic-themed events since the traditional battle pass was put on hold.

The scoop comes straight from a blog post on the official Dota 2 website. In a concise four-paragraph post, Valve assured players that this patch is just a temporary pitstop before they unveil more significant updates currently in the works. The big reveal is that Frostivus is making a comeback this year, a festive event that hasn't graced the game since 2019.

In the previous Frostivus, players were treated to the Ogre Magi arcana alongside a compact battle pass. This year's edition, set to land in early December 2023, has a slight twist—it won't include an arcana. The latter half of the blog post spills the beans on other updates, teasing the arrival of multiple top-tier cosmetics.

But wait, there's more! The Dota 2 developers spill the beans that while Frostivus won't feature new arcanas, a comprehensive battle pass is in the works and will deliver everything fans crave. Frostivus is scheduled for December, but after that, brace yourselves for a more significant event, likely in the first quarter of 2024. Valve admits that this event has grown more complex than initially planned but assures it will be worth the wait.

Reading between the lines, it seems Valve is gearing up to introduce a new battle pass to celebrate the arrival of Ringmaster, the fresh Dota 2 hero unveiled at The International 2023. If our predictions hold true, he's likely to make his debut in February, aligning with Valve's estimated timeline. And the burning question of which heroes will snag those coveted arcanas? Keep an eye on Lion, Slark, and Riki—heroes with immense popularity but no arcanas, personas, or arcana-esque sets. At least one of them is in for some long-awaited love. Get ready for an exciting ride in the Dota 2 universe!
