Guide to positions in Dota 2

There are five main roles in Dota 2.

  • Carry (pos. 1)
  • Midlane (pos. 2)
  • Offlane (pos. 3)
  • Partial support (pos. 4)
  • Full support (pos. 5)

The order of positions (position 1, position 2, etc.) indicates their potential and importance throughout the game. When the game enters a late stage (usually after 35 minutes), position 5 is usually the weakest hero, and position 1 is the strongest. Let's look at each of them and determine the value in the game

Full support

Support heroes usually have strong spells. This makes their style of play completely dependent on their abilities, so mining gold and items is less of a priority for them. They often purchase cheap basic items to increase survivability, such as Force Staff, Glimer cape and tranquilizers.

Partial support

The heroes of this position have greater vitality and mobility. They have the role of gangers and require more items to be active on the map. They help on the MFA, control runes and very often initiate fights. They also have no small damage, and can decide the outcome of a fight in solo. A competent player in the fourth position can make an invaluable contribution to the game, and complicate the opponent's life from the very first minutes.

Offlayer

Offlayers are usually very thick and dense heroes. They absorb damage and are sharpened for team battles. This role is very difficult, because during the lane stage, their supports usually leave to help on other lines and leave them to survive on the line alone. They are the main initiators of the fight and must create a space on the map so that Kerry can calmly farm the slots.

Midlainer

Miders are, as a rule, heroes with strong abilities, huge magical or physical damage, and often high mobility. They are consistently strong throughout the game, from the leaning to the leit game. Mider is always 1 on 1, but it requires strong skills and abilities. He also doesn't share the experience he gets from creeps with anyone. This makes him the strongest hero of the team, who can easily break forward. His goal is to defeat the opponent on the line and shake the card.

Kerry

The hero with the highest damage, whom the team protects at the beginning of the game, gives him time to farm and gain peak strength. Then Carrie goes, kills the heroes and breaks the buildings. It depends very much on money, so if you spoil his line, you can greatly slow down the pace of farming. Drags the team to victory in the late stage of the game.
